In the aftermath of the Los Angeles Riots, Dennis Storer OBE, then Executive Director of The British/American Business Council, founded the Spirit of Youth Foundation as a not for profit organization. Spirit of Youth recognizes the "global community" in which we now live and understands the need of tomorrow's leaders to know and understand diverse peoples and ways of life.

Our primary role is to help youth with disadvantaged backgrounds aged 15-17, who have shown leadership capabilities, to travel to foreign countries to experience other cultures, histories and democracies and establish enduring friendships.

To date, Spirit of Youth Foundation has enabled over 150 alumni to experience this exceptional travel and learning opportunity.

Teens from Los Angeles have traveled to the United Kingdom and British teens have in turn been brought to the Los Angeles area. These young people hold similarly strong ambitions but are unable, financially or otherwise, to interact with their foreign peers.
