The Spirit of Youth Foundation was founded in 1993 to assist the young people of the United States and Great Britain to become tomorrow’s potential leaders by  building  educational, economic, cultural, governmental and personal relationships.

About Spirit of Youth - History

Founded in the aftermath of the Los Angeles Riots, by Dennis Storer OBE, then Executive Director of The British/American Business Council,  The Spirit of Youth Foundation is a not for profit organization that recognizes the need for tomorrow’s leaders to know and understand diverse peoples and ways of life.  Its primary role is to help youth with disadvantaged backgrounds who have leadership capabilities, to travel to foreign countries to experience other cultures, histories and democracies and establish enduring friendships.

With fourteen years’ experience in arranging exchanges for students aged 15-17, who come from disadvantaged backgrounds, the Spirit of Youth Foundation has now enabled approximately 150 alumni to experience some exceptional travel and learning opportunities. Teens from Los Angeles have traveled to the United Kingdom and British teens have in turn been brought to the Los Angeles area. These young people hold similarly strong ambitions but are unable, financially or otherwise, to interact with their foreign peers.  Activities included meetings with political figures, exposure to contemporary global issues, visiting historic sites, spending time in schools and class rooms interacting with their international counterparts, in education, the arts and sports.

Spirit of Youth’s programs have proven that by taking young people away from their peers and their tough environment and by providing an inspiring program abroad makes a significant impact on them.  These Specialized tours focus in the fields of governance, aerospace, medicine, sports, the arts and education.
